Essaouira combines a fortified medina, working fishing port, urban beach and a hinterland of villages and argan trees. Its scale rewards slowing down, but an excursion or watersport remains a separate sequence.

Reduce the impact of the stay
Buy wood and argan products with clear provenance, reduce plastic and respect the protected archipelago. At the port, do not touch equipment or photograph fishers without consent.
Use authorised access, take waste away and limit noise. Do not buy wildlife, plants or objects described as old without clear provenance. In inhabited places, daily life takes priority over photography; in natural areas, the siteʼs fragility takes priority over finding a dramatic viewpoint.
